FAQ

Is every piece the same?

Not quite and that’s part of the magic. Each item is handcrafted by a real person, not stamped out by a machine. That means you might notice tiny variations in shape, color, or finish. These aren’t flaws, they’re the charming little quirks that make handmade work so special.
Think of it like getting a piece with its own personality rather than something mass-produced. No two creations are identical, but every one is made with skill, attention, and a whole lot of pride.

Are these crafts toys?

No, they aren’t toys. They’re made to be sturdy, and they can easily survive a light bump or friendly touch, but they aren’t built for playtime adventures.
These pieces are designed for decoration, gifting, and admiration. Treat them with a little care, and they’ll keep looking wonderful for a long time.

Is shipping included?

For orders above 100 EUR: Yes! Delivery is on us.
For orders below that, there’s a small, very reasonable fee. Most of the journey is already covered anyway you’re just funding the final few kilometers.

Where do you source the products?

All our products are crafted by skilled artisans in South Africa, people who have spent years perfecting their techniques and traditions. We work directly with these makers, not with factories or middlemen.
Every item you buy supports real creativity, real families, and real communities. It’s craft with a story behind it, not just an item on a shelf.

What do you do to help the makers?

We take care of the tricky stuff: shipping, product photos, customs, paperwork — basically all those hurdles that usually make independent selling tough.
This way, makers can focus on crafting, and you know for sure that you’re supporting genuine artisans instead of faceless factories.

Can I make custom requests?

Possibly! It depends on what you have in mind, but we’re always happy to explore your idea.
Feel free to reach out through our contact page, email, or phone.

Do the artisans get a fair share?

Yes — and this is a big part of why UMGANI exists.
Our makers set their own prices, and we ensure they receive fair compensation for their work. No hidden surprises, no exploitation, no race to the bottom.
When you buy from us, you’re directly supporting independent artisans, not a giant factory with mysterious tentacles.
